Currently Rüdiger Seydel was Visiting Professor at the TUM in the Winter Term 2014/15. In 2012 he retired from a chair for Applied Mathematics at the University of Cologne, where he has headed a research group on Computational Finance. Previously, he held positions in Ulm, Würzburg, Buffalo, and Munich. His research interests include numerical analysis, differential equations, non-linear phenomena, and computational finance. Author of the books Tools for Computational Finance (five editions), Practical Bifurcation and Stability Analysis (three editions), and co-author of the book about case studies Vom Regenbogen zum Farbfernsehen, he has frequently touched upon applications of mathematics.
