Oliver Schlick studied economics and political science at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich). Upon completion of his degree, he became an assistant and researcher at the Department of Monetary Economics focussing on monetary policy as well as macroeconomics in consideration of imperfect markets. In 1994, he completed his assistant activities with his dissertation about ‘Credit Rationing and Imperfect Financial Markets‘.
After his time at university, Oliver Schlick worked for the banking sector where he was responsible for economic- and interest rate forecasts in the Research Department of the former Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechselbank at first. Having been group-internally hired away by the Asset Management subsidiary, he started to deal more with analytics. He became Head of Research and applied his academic knowledge by managing special funds in line with his job as a fund manager.
In 2002 he joined BayernInvest, the Asset Management subsidiary of the Bayerische Landesbank (Bavarian State Bank). Having gained experience in various management positions, Oliver Schlick was appointed General Manager of BayernInvest in 2008 where most recently he in his function as Chief Investment Officer was responsible for capital market analysis and funds management as well as product development and the trading sector. Apart from that, he was Head of Marketing and Sales for some years.
Since 2015 he has been dedicating himself to capital market research and –consulting again and has been deepening his analyses as a visiting researcher at the chair of mathematical finance at the Technische Universität München (Technical University of Munich). In his research activities, he does not only focus on the application of macroeconomic- and monetary theoretical approaches to analyse the current economic situation but also on how to implement his findings and knowledge in practical investment policy and product development.
